I have been working in the self storage industry for 6 years. I got my start in the self storage industry when a real estate developer and his investors came to me and asked me to operate the new self storage facility they had just built. They built the project and then turned the operations and management of it over to me. I created our operational procedures, marketing plan, hired and trained a sales staff, and did everything we needed to run a successful business. There were, in addition to our property, three other properties leasing up at the same time. We leased up at a faster rate than those other facilities and operated a successful business. I know what it takes to operate a storage facility in a competitive market. I have "been in the trenches" and understand from the inside out what is needed to be successful in the self storage industry.
